The Porcine Pardon: Pig Named Six Seven Pardoned by Miami Dade County Mayor.

It might not have been at the same level as granting clemency to festive fowl, but the county's top official experienced a Donald Trump moment this week by formally pardoning the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“The swine has done no wrong. She deserves this act of mercy. Her criminal record is spotless,” stated the mayor in a speech with obvious nods to the sheer volume of executive clemencies issued from the start of the onset of a second term in office.

“If we disregard eating 6 or 7 apples per day,” the mayor added. “I hope she experiences a prosperous future without fear.”

This ceremony, simultaneously observing and challenging the region’s Hispanic tradition of feasting on pork during the holidays, was established to mirror the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The pig, provided by a Coral Gables firefighter, was christened after the modern linguistic fad of young people yelling “6-7” – deriving from a musical verse – often without clear purpose. The craze became so pervasive that a leading lexicon site recently made “6-7” its annual vocabulary selection.

A Future Secured

This particular pig is now destined to live out its days at a countryside refuge “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the ceremony's official statement.

“This swine clemency has become one of our favorite ways to kick off the end-of-year celebrations,” said the event host, in a decidedly positive message.

“It captures the spirit of Miami: joyful, diverse, and rooted in traditions that unite the community. Each year, we are delighted to mark culture and compassion in a way unique to Miami.”

Guests enjoyed a plant-based fare of spinach croquetas and strong coffee as they toasted Six Seven’s big moment.
