Trump Welcomes Families of Attacked National Guard Personnel to the White House
Former President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that he has asked the relatives of a Guard member tragically killed last week to attend the White House.
He mentioned that he contacted her parents and they were “heartbroken”.
Details on the Heartbreaking Incident
Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a violent incident on Wednesday in the nation's capital.
Her fellow service member, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in grave state.
Memorials across West Virginia have taken place in their honor.
Presidential Invitation
The president stated he’s proposed a meeting at the presidential residence for the parents of both soldiers of the state Guard.
“I told them: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a difficult moment, come to the White House. We’re going to honor her,” Trump addressed the press. “And similarly with him, no matter the outcome.”
Public Reaction
Mourners assembled over the past few days at Webster County high school in West Virginia to honor Sarah.
Both she and Wolfe had been fulfilling duties with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s national effort to assist law enforcement in DC.
Remembering Beckstrom
“She was the type of pupil that educators wished for. She conducted herself with inner fortitude, a warm expression and a positive energy that encouraged people around her,” Hankins, the leader of Beckstrom’s previous school, told the Associated Press. “She was caring, compassionate and always willing to support those in need.”
Memorial plans for Beckstrom are still being arranged.
Legal Actions and Policy Adjustments
Law enforcement have indicted a 29-year-old suspect with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.
The incident led the government to suspend asylum processing and cease issuing entry permits to owners of Afghan passports.
Status of Andrew Wolfe
The airman, a native of Martinsburg, began his service in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of his local high school, as reported by the Associated Press.
He remains under medical supervision and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s leader Morrisey stated on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.
The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi informed Fox News Sunday that she aimed to meet with the family.
Memory of Beckstrom
Sarah, from Summersville, completed her education from her high school in 2023 and began her service not long after, working as a MP with distinction, according to the state guard.
“She had a lot of compassion and she certainly had bravery,” he addressed the gathering at the service. “Though her time was cut short, she has left a mark that’s going to last forever.”
